The Chapel’s Evolution

2016 - 2017

The Creation.

The original Baptist chapel was built around 1830 and has had a number of different iterations over the years. Prior to Chapel House Ministries purchasing the property in 2014, and Paul and Jane moving into The Manse, it had ceased to be a recognised place of worship for several years, but the owners prayed, believed and trusted that it would one day again become a place for people to be encouraged and spurred on in their faith. It is a wonderful and humbling experience for us (Paul and Jane) to now be caught up in the fulfilment of that vision. When we first saw Chapel House on the market in early 2013 it seemed perfect for the vision for mentoring and hospitality that we had, but we could not see any way in which we would ever be able to afford to to buy. God had other plans and with the formation of the Trust and the prayers and generosity of an army of faithful friends over the course of a year, it became a reality. We still pinch ourselves sometimes! Even after taking residence, however, there was still a lot of work to be done to refurbish and make the Chapel fit for purpose, but, once again, people caught the vision and jumped on board to make it possible. There is a short video on the site to show the extensive changes that have taken place, for those of you who are interested in that kind of thing!

“This place is incredible - spacious yet intimate, it has been perfect. Teaching, thinking, praying, singing, eating, laughing, we have had such a special time together. Thank you chapel House.”
