FAQs
I’ve never been on a retreat by myself before. What do I do?
There are a number of options for you. We have written material available for self-guided retreats. It might also be possible to spend a short amount of time with Jane or Paul to discuss where you’re at, and pray on arrival. Chapel House is situated in a beautiful part of Worcestershire and we encourage folk to go for walks to allow God time and space to speak to them. Equally, you might plan and prepare your own programme. One thing we would discourage, however, is that you look upon your retreat as a time to catch up on work.
How much does it cost for a day at Chapel House?
We don’t have a fixed scale of charges for Chapel House, but we ask folk to pray and consider making a gift to Chapel House Ministries (details on the Giving page). We never want finance to be a barrier, however, and look favourably on all requests. Sometimes we host guests who are able to be extremely generous and that helps support those who might struggle financially.
Do you provide food?
We do not provide food, but there is a fully equipped kitchenette and two well stocked shops in the village. The closest being 2 minutes walk.
Are there pubs or restaurants nearby?
Yes, The Crown Inn, Hallow, which is a 10 minute walk (https://www.chefandbrewer.com/pubs/worcestershire/crown-inn/) and The Holt Fleet, which is a 5 minute drive (https://www.theholtfleet.co.uk). We also recommend Top Barn Farm Shop (https://www.topbarnharvestshop.co.uk/in-store/), which always has a tasty array of snacks plus an outdoor coffee shack.
What else is there to do in the area?
We are gathering a collection of leaflets about local attractions and things to do and we ask guests to make a note of things they have found interesting in our Guest Book. Also, it’s worth checking out https://www.visitworcester.co.uk.
Is there overnight accommodation?
On the mezzanine floor there is a comfy double futon bed and we also have inflatable mattresses, suitable for children. We provide bedding and towels.
Can I bring a group to Chapel House?
By all means, but we suggest a maximum of 12 for a day visit.
Is there wheelchair access?
Yes.
Is there a downstairs toilet?
Not in the Chapel, but there is easy access to our own downstairs toilet, subject to us being at home.
